Michael Feiz, MD, FACS urges anybody who has been unhappy with the results of their lap band operation. A lap band can sometimes be inadequate for many recipients; sometimes it doesn't inspire enough weight loss, sometimes it leaves a patient with a constant feeling of queasiness, and sometimes the band will slip or erode and cause worse problems than discomfort. Many times in these circumstances, Dr. Feiz recommends coming to him for a lap band to sleeve revision procedure.

A revision procedure from Dr. Feiz essentially removes the errant lap band and converts the stomach into a manga gástrica. Also known as vertical sleeve gastrectomy, the gastric sleeve removes most of the stomach. After the procedure, the patient can only eat a fraction of the amount they could before, leading to an incredible amount of weight loss. They'll also feel fuller much faster, which helps with many of the psychological effects of overeating. Dr. Feiz generally prefers a gastric sleeve after lap band over other types of bariatric procedures, due to the fact that it does more than restrict the size of the stomach (among other things, it removes the part of the stomach that produces the hormone that causes hunger).

After any of his surgeries, Dr. Feiz will helpfully guide his patients through their weight loss journeys. He has many roles: aiding with diet and exercise, acting as a confidante during the hardest moments, helping patients acclimate to their new bodies, and much more. His caring bedside manner is evident when first meeting him; you'll notice when you meet him for a free consultation. It can be easily scheduled by calling Dr. Feiz and Associates at 310-855-8058.
