Dr. Feiz\u2019s bariatric surgery patients see amazing success in losing weight. However, Dr. Feiz understands that, in some rare cases, a Lap Band procedure is not enough for patients to lose all the weight they need. Ghrelin is a hormone produced by your stomach that signals your brain to continue eating, or to crave junk foods that can slow or stop weight loss. With Lap Band procedures, the stomach is made smaller through a surgical device, called the Lap Band, which wraps around the organ. However, the part of the stomach that produces ghrelin remains, and some patients find they have a hard time fighting the impulses that are driven by that hormone.
