There are many problems that severely obese people face. Chronic health issues and a decreased life span mean that they should lose weight and keep it off, yet that is one of the hardest problems that obese patients face. Many obese people have worked hard to lose weight, but have failed to keep it off long-term, even gaining back more weight than they lost before. Michael Feiz, M.D., F.A.C.S. founded Dr. Feiz & Associates to help stop this vicious cycle. He can help patients seeking bariatric surgery, including Lap Band, gastric sleeve, or even band to sleeve revision surgery.

Dr. Feiz works closely with patients who choose the Lap Band procedure, which uses a band-like device to close off part of the stomach and create a smaller “pocket.” This pocket helps patients eat much less while feeling full more quickly. However, Dr. Feiz knows that everybody is unique, and although a patient may have had a Lap Band procedure, that doesn’t mean they get the outcomes they want. While Dr. Feiz and his team closely advise their patients on the best possible procedure, not all surgeons will do the same. In some rare cases, the Lap Band can slip, or cause nausea and vomiting that does not go away, which can cause ulcers in the esophagus. These long-term health issues can often be solved by a Lap Band revision surgery, which removes the band, then about 75-85% of the stomach itself. By creating a permanently smaller organ, the patient still eats less but experiences fewer side effects – and the weight loss they need to focus on living a good life!

Contact Dr. Feiz & Associates to set up an appointment today, whether you want to discuss Lap Band vs. sleeve gastrectomy, or need a revision procedure.
